1-4 SS on a Muzzleloader?

Gonna head east for a couple’a days to look for deer. Few of the areas are shotgun/mz only. Thinking I’ll scope the TC in case I wasn’t to sniff around in those pockets.

Would you trust a 1-4 SS to handle that duty?

I put a 6x SWFA on my muzzleloader for a “short range hunt”. Not exactly what you are asking but it worked. I’d use a 1-4 too.

I don’t know what muzzleloader you’re using but we have an open ignition requirement so I needed to protect the scope around the ignition because of blowback scorching.

No restrictions on the “muzzleloader”… other than it be a muzzleloader, as it’s during modern rifle season.

I’m running a .50 cal TC Impact, 100gr BH209, 250 .45 cal at 1950 fps. Recoil isn’t bad, but I know a few 1-4 have rumored to have rattled loose on bigger boomers.

I have and it worked fine, although it didn't see a huge volume of shots. Muzzleloaders are so I can hunt an extra week, not because I love them. I've since swapped to a 6X MQ; it's still the favorite for hunting.

Whatever.

Kidding aside I put a 6x SS on the kid's T/C x7. Sure easier to shoot at any distance. Even though those pics are on the prairie the shots have been 22 yards, 105 yards, 40 yards and 20 yards.

One of these days I'm going to build a traditional ML. Probably Purdey style. Just need to get off the motorcycle projects long enough to do it. Beautiful deer, rifle, and terrain!

I think I’m on year 6 with a 6X MQ on mine. Had a Monarch 2-7 on it previously. Like the 6X better.
