88's, lapua brass, Harrison spout, 2.27", MPI 7.62x39 bolt,

Tried tac, 4166, and 4451 and they all popped primers under 2800 fps. There wasn't much gas and no pitting on the bolt face or firing pin. I swapped in another pin from my 6.5 grendel that has never given problems and it popped them as well.

Some of the primers that aren't pierced show signs of cratering.

Primers are either CCi 400's or 450's, I forget which as I primed them awhile back and set it all aside but I have not had a problem with either in other rifles. Any help is appreciated, feel like I'm missing something here.

Looking back at the chamber spec's I was way too long on COAL, fixed that, still piercing.

Bolt had an 'enhanced' firing pin for Ruskie ammo, yanked and replaced, still piercing.

Stuck a new lot of 450's in a few and they looked like they should. Need to load a few more to confirm, but right now I'm only about 2750fps with 28gr of 4451, well short of where I figured on being.

I can't measure it very well with calipers but the fucking firing pin hole measured .071.........

I'm the odd man here, i know...but I have had issues with 400s in several rifles. Swapped to 450s and problem was gone.

I slowed my role, went back to the start, re-expanded to 6.5 to reassertain false shoulders in .224. I've got a new bolt on the way and will be running 450's exclusively after this. Will report back on findings.

Problem fixed, primer strikes are nice and purty right at 2900fps w/ 4451. Ran the new bolt and resized brass with the 400's and they looked good too.

Best I can tell it was a bit of both, with the majority going towards headspace. The "enhanced" firing pin didn't help any I'm sure. SuperMatch bolt here:

Headspace is a little tougher to stay on top of,in a Krunchenticker. Glad you got it whipped.

It is a NASTY fucking chambering................
