Just wondering if any of you have experience shooting the 40 grain 20 cal ballistic tip at yotes. Only killed 2 dogs with my 20 so far one at 250 and change and one at 325. Bullets worked well. I'm running them at 3520fps. What I am curious about is if I hit a dog inside 100 if I can expect a splash?

Can't help with the 204 but I shot a lot of 40 gr nosler 22 cals at high speeds and never had a splash, the 22 cals are stout little bullets

I'd say no to your question, but my experience with 20 cal b-tips is limited to the 32 grain and only a couple coyotes. Like Dude, I've shot more of the 40 and 50 grain 22 cal bullets.

In my opinion the solid base on the b-tip varmint helps prevent splashing like you might see with a vmax, blitzking, or TNT on shoulder bone.

I think if you keep that nosler away from the edges, you'll be good. In fact, I'd say the nosler is more prone to going out the other side on rib shots than some of the other varmint bullets out there.

I had pass throughs on both yotes. The cartridge is called a 20 extreme. It's a triple deuce necked down with the shoulder set back a bit. A local guy came up with it and it was actually a pretty well thought out case. The guy took a lot of shit over the cartridge on one of the local boards, the guys that were giving him the gears were typical do nothing types that shot savage axis rifles but liked to tell me what was wrong with my 5k plus builds. So I felt it fitting I should build a 20 extreme cause fuck those guys hahaha

Sounds like a nice little cartridge. I've often thought about doing a straight
20-222. I've always been a fan of the 222 cartridge and I have a quite a bit of new winchester brass on hand, to make it go.

Speaking of coyotes, I hammered one with a 223ai launched 75 ELD about two hours ago. Fun stuff.
