7-08AI reamer?

I have this crazy idea that I want a sharper shouldered, slightly shorter than SAAMI 7-08. Like a 7SAW, but without the proprietary issues. Trying to build a better mag fed mousetrap, on a 700SA. My thought is to run a AI reamer in, holding it short enough that all you need to do to form a case is to run it into a shortened FL die. I know none of this is necessary. I'm running 162 amax though a stock 700 w/ aics dbm at 2700 without breaking a sweat, but every time I look at a loaded round, and think about a 6.5 creed, vs .260, my brain starts smoking.

I've got a montana chambered by that reamer too.

Wolfman, wouldn't a 7mm creedmoor get you pretty close to what you want?

I'm just sniffing around for options at this point. I'm north of the wall, so can't just ship an action to Shaen. Reamers aren't controlled, so it would be easier to find someone with a reamer they don't need anymore, or are willing to lend/rent. I can always order a new one, but I'm not quite there yet.

It probably really isn't worth the trouble. I should probably just notch my current action to let it feed rounds loaded to the full max length of the mags. Any good pics from the bottom, and top to see exactly how the finished job looks would be appreciated.

Don’t have any pictures of my notched feed ramps with me...but it’s REAL easy to do.

One more question. Do you slope the front wall of the notch (ramp toward the chamber), or cut it 90degrees to the bottom of the receiver?

Ahhh...reckon I misinterpreted...
Yeah, putting a radius on the notch itself is GP. From there I leave the feed ramp alone.
