What ACIS pattern magazines are you guys using for these 88s? Do you know which magazine can be modified for longest internal dimension?

Been discussed many times, with LOTSA pics.

AM 5rd steel and MDT poly 10rd Herd Clips, both can arrange copious COAL. Where are you it,in COAL,with an 88 Smooch in said rifle(s)?................

Thank you. I am searching for posts now. I see you had a video on it, but I can’t find a link. I have an MDT, have a 10rd AM on the way, is the 5rd better?
I am at 2.53” .020”off with 75 and 80 eld, .223 rem. I am thinking about trying the 88. Either way more length would be nice to chase lands. Any links would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help

I prefer the 5rd AM for Utility, but keep MDT Herd Clips in the ruck(and everywhere else).

I'm in Reload Mode,so it's no thang to grab fresh pics.

2.560" COAL 88 ELD.

Same in a 5rd AM(I've modded this mag prior).

Same in a MDT Herd Clip,in issued guise and it VERY nearly fits.

Nothing to "remove",on the back wall of a MDT.

The front can be relieved with a lineal centered groove,if required.

I don't shoot any throats,as long as your's,but the AM steel can be tailored to allow 2,560" easily. Simply stuff box with empties and use a 1/4" round file to open up the nose. Takes 30 seconds.

Nice way to fly,for certain....................

Wow, thanks man! That is great to see pics. I think my gunsmith throated out my chamber too much. He has a ptg 5.56 reamer that I wanted him to throat to about a wylde length, +-.065.

I will try and file the AM 10 rounder. Maybe I will have to buy one of the 5 rounders.
Do you think I could get 2.6” from an AM or MDT?
About how much throat erosion per 100rds do you see in .223? My 6mm’s are about 3-4 thousandths per 100rds.
I really appreciate the insight.

You could certainly reach 2.600" COAL,if required. All of the mods would be in the nose of the box,as they are both .140" thick there. The 5rd steel AM would be easiest, both because it's shorter and lined to a steel outer shell. You could remove the entire thickness, less an issue.

The forward round mark on the AM,is where they peened the floorplate closed and dimpled it into place.

I quit measuring throats like that decades ago and every now and again, simply check the Dummy in the die box and add what's needed, which is one of many reasons why I love Comp Seaters and the RCBS open mouth bitches in particular............................

Waiting impatiently for the 90 BeerCans to make a show here ! do have a couple hundo 110's for my 1:7" 6BR I need to start flinging down range... I did note that "scenarshooter" was content using a G7 of .304 with the 90's be interesting to see how that shakes out with you, versus the advertised .295BC What chambering will get the first pitch ??
