Burris FF2's and 3's have been good to me. Totally reliable and lots of low bases in the catalog for whatever pistol you have. And some kind of under-jacket holster to keep them dry. A puddle of water on the lens does not help with visuals!

I've had a Vortex Venom(3 moa) on my S&W victory for a few years now. I'm not really into pistols, or the Vortex brand, but that setup has been knocked around quite a bit in the glove box of my RZR. It has always worked and held zero.
