I'm going to add a seperate powder measure for handgun loading instead of changing out metering inserts in my favorite Redding 3BR.

Any thoughts on a decent powder measure for low volume handgun loading?

Thanks! -Al

My interest is in a powder measure designed for smaller charges.... Redding has the 10X and RCBS has a small model.

I'll likely come up with something.

Does the 1-10gr micrometer that the Redding comes with not work?
I also use a 3br but haven’t ever changed the way it meters.

Dillon used to make a manual powder dispenser modeled after the ones used on the progressive presses which work very well in throwing small charges. Might take a little searching to find one, I didn’t see them on their site.

No, the pistol chamber works fine. When changing back to the larger chamber, the charge weights are off a bit from the recorded settings for each powder.

I’ve never used the vernier scale measurements as anything more than a rough estimate. I know theoretically the settings should be repeatable, just never used it that way.

With a bit of a tune up, the 3BR's are extremely repeatable.

A tip from one of my goombas has a handgun capacity powder measure headed my way. Looooooong out of production, we'll see if it's all it's cracked up to be. :cautious:

Just an update. The NIB 1960's era powder measure is all it was cracked up to be. Throws WW231 flake dead nuts every time. -Al
