Mine is a little dark around the edges in the upper mag range and the eye relief is critical. Neither of which has been a problem as I use mine for punching paper or ringing steel.

A couple years ago a chain store in town had them on sale at blowout prices. I walked out with literally an armload... felt like I stole them for the price. Called the other stores in the area and reserved some more.

Got home and puked after spending time with them. The tunnel, eye box, and narrow FOV turned me off (for a 4.5x, don't put much worth into FOV normally). Thought about flipping them, but couldn't do it so took them all back.

Afterwards, people told me the MK4 was different than those VX3 that I had bought/returned. At the next visit to Leupo in Beavertown they offered a MK4 at a huge discount. It was no different than the VX3. Could have flipped that one too, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

A bud had the older MKIV and it was like wearing sunglasses. They must put an extra couple lenses in there to make all the weird optical effects.

I'm using a 30mm with M1s right now and I like it plenty. Different strokes, for sure, I've heard of numerous folks that can't stand the 4.5-14s.

I had a MK4 on a 308 tactical bolt gun and liked it for what it was but had a non AO 4.5-14 that I hated. Got rid of both of them and now figure 3.5-10x has way better benefits in the all around category.

Lotsa movers get shot in these parts and the 4.5-14x is easily amongst THE biggest pieces of shit of All Time.

I've seen me shoot...................(grin)

I 2nd Stick's motion..... Had a 1" and 30mm(Both with M1's). Both which tracked soft on multiple rifles. Eye relief was fuckin' foul from 10x to 14X. Moral of the story is...........I sold them fuckers DIRT cheap on the 'fire........ I have no complaints about any OTHER Leupolds that I own..... Stay with the 3.5-10, and keep makin' empties..........

Oh I think 'bout everyone has suffered them,as for some reason the magnification range seems tempting. Got most of mine on Used Rifles, but did buy some NIB MK4 M1's which sucked ass too.

I've shot fixed longer than anyone I know and as variables go,the 3.5-10x is easily KING.................

I like them. I prefer the fine duplex to everything else. I don't like the non-AO/SF versions. I've got a dozen of them mounted on the rifles I hunt with the most. Lots of movers here, but it's also very open. I like 4-12's too.
