Loudener on 7 SAUM

I'm putting together pieces and parts for Shaen to build me up a 7 SAUM. Using the Teeker long action, Mesa Altitude stock, HC Billet Mags shooting 180ELDm's. Looking at going with a 22" Proof Sendero Light 1-8RPM. I'm undecided if I want to slap a brake on it or not. Was looking at the JEC Quiet Brake, but I've read about problems in getting brakes from him. Anyone running one of these in similar fashion? Like to see hits at distance and remove the thing for woods stalking.

Thanks for ideas.

All Teekers are long action.

I'd be going 7-08 and Alpha brass. I'm partial to real barrels, made of steel and 8" is a nice place to be.

No loudener for me,on anything...ever....................

Haha....yeah, spaced out that Teekers are all the same. I have a load of ADG brass to use up in SAUM flavor, so the 7-08 Alphee will have to get put on the list.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

If I wasn't gonna 7-08 on a Teeker,I'd go straight 284 Win and again...due to brass.

I loved my ShamWow,but would prefer to simplify and 7-08 or go straight to a Montucky 7 Whizzum.....................

Like Stick said, CF barrels are an easy skip for me. Whatever the “benefits” are sure don’t outweigh the added clams IMO.

I wouldn’t hesitate going the 7 SAUM route however, esp with the ADG brass option. Those HC mags will allow all the COAL you need for the heavies.

No loudners here....just mufflers...grin....

I've built one rifle with a carbon barrel it was a hells Canyon with a benchmark liner in 6.5-284. thing is a hammer for sure. Carbon offers no benefit that I feel worth the price of admission.

I just love the idea of adding weight via carbon fiber... quite possibly the most expensive way possible to do it.

But whatever, its not my money. At least he didn't go through all that trouble to shoot 120 BTs.

$800 for the barrel
$425 for the chambering and threading
$90 for the loudener
$600 for the Tikka.

Easily into it for 2k with a factory stock when things are shipped.

For conversation, I've seen a bone stock Tikka .270 kill shit farther away.

:)

With a Swaro.

Shooting partitions.

Good god this is getting embarrassing.

For rebarrel's on the Fieldcrafts, are you guys duping the factory contours? I've read about folks taking the older Forbes and NULA's and free floating and getting better accuracy, although I know their original design was to be fully bedded.

As a default,I've long FL bedded dainty contours and never wished I hadn't.

If groups aren't round, something is fucked up somewhere and VERY often it's bedding..................

Are you going thinner than stock Fieldcraft tubes on rebarrels? If so, what's the smallest profile you'd run on it? Smallest I could get several years ago in stainless was a Lilja. Brux does some tiny ones as well.

I've never fretted what I could buy and simply had shit turned to my whim.

The Fieldcraft contour is just fine...................
