I'm looking for input on a new top end for a Ruger 22/45 Mk3. I'm looking at a couple of units from Voltquartsen and Tactical Solutions.

I'm looking for something short, threaded, lightweight, and I plan to use it with a suppressor.

Does the comp come off this model, for use with a suppressor? I like the idea of a low-mounted red dot, but I want to be able to put a suppressor on it. I'm not sure if this unit allows for it, or not. Link

It says it comes with a comp wrench so I'd say it comes off. Spec sheet says 1/2x28 threads too so you should be good. I'd talk to them first to be sure.

That's a neat looking setup Dan. If you get one let us know how it works out

I've seen folks buy just the upper that comes on the little mamba. Supposedly they go on sale for decent prices on occasion. I'd enquire about that one too.

What is the current configuration lacking, that you hope to find elsewhere? My VQ and TacSol "love" in said application,is less than none.............

I live/love 22/45 LITE.

Cans aren't my jam,but if they were, the Macs approach would be how I rolled. Losing barrel length, makes nothing but sense,to make ammo selection that much easier by default...............

I figure it's time for my once a decade post here...I have a Tactical Solutions PacLite upper on my Mk IV 22/45 and it works great with a can. It's an easy swap on the MkIV series and my can (a Sparrow 22) has been flawless. Only problem I've ever had is shooting "quiet" ammo under 900 FPS, it's not enough to cycle. But it sure is quiet and a lot of fun.

That's really nice Remsen, you must have gotten a really good deal on it, grin.......

Seriously, it's good to see you posting over here.

Before the factory ruger lites were a thing I put a tac-sol on an old Mk 2 frame and it's been awesome

I'm also happy with my tacsol upper. They are not the same profile as the original, so some holsters don't fit. Otherwise it has been great, although I can't say I have shot it on paper to see how it really does.

That comp will come off Dan. It's the same one that's on my Black Mamba.

It will come with a tool shaped like an Armorers Wrench for an AR.

FWIW, I don't think anything touches a KIDD for a 10/22 style rifle...

But on the 22/45 style handguns...always go Volquartsen for the win!
