I'm looking at a Howa mini in .223. Can someone answer the following:

1) What is the twist rate? I've seen specs as either a 1/8 or 1/9.
2) What is max OAL for loads?
3) I saw sometime back some aftermarket metal bottom metal. Can you provide a link?
4) What kind of accuracy are you seeing with yours?

Do all rifle for around the house, walking around the farm and on the tractor. I want something light(er) and can shoot a 75 gr bullet without spending a shit ton. This link says they now come with a 1/8 twist:

I've got a bunch of 75 AMAX, CC's and Hornady HPBTs. Don't want to be handicapped on twist. Mainly will be used for coyotes, groundhogs and occasional deer.

ETA: I have an old Stevens 200 .223 that I abhor. I bought it on a whim and hate the trigger, hate the action and the gun in general. Looking to replace it with the Howa. Already have Rem., Tikka...Want to try a Howa.

COAL will hurt you and it's 2.330"-ish...which means Hornie 75BTHP's and a leap.

CDI useta' do AICS DBM's for same, but he passed and it's game over.

Just figure a bolt action wearing Krunchenticker ASC mag COAL confines..............

Having said that I am jumping the 75g Hdy BTHPs from about 2.32” and they shoot stellar as do the 73g ELDMs in my 1-9” Howa 1500. The AMAX would be seated way deep and jumping even farther.

Considering OAL constraints of the mini and being a plastic bottom metal, I'm now considering the plain BDL style 1500 small action. I think it might fit my needs better. AMAXELDs should work fine in that.

COAL in OEM guise, will be the same, but the "regular" receiver's box is easily tweaked to allow greater COAL.

The easiest path being an AICS footprinted DBM..............................

Wrong bases, prolly weren't helping the last owner, though in fairness they were epoxied on and took heat to remove.(grin)

You get it to stop shooting high?

No problem getting a zero, with ROCK 155's I found loaded, ready, willing and able. Shot them up and reremembered how much I hate 308's.

It's gonna be a 7-08 and I really should have you make me an Aztec 180 Launcher, with a spout Maker I've yet to try, though their biggest contour is only 1.250" and I'm not sure that is large enough to get your dander up...when taken to #2........................(grin)

Someone in Kali,got lucky.

Found a Rube to HowAge this bitch at 8" RPM,22.5",#2,S/S and throated to my supplied Dummy...for both neck and skoozle pipe.

Be curious to see how this shit pans out and just "happened" to quiz 'em about 224/243 LBC's on Da' Mini platform.

If only not to derail a Thread, like you boys just love to do................(grin)
