The 6BR XP would be interesting. I've got one that was rechambered to 284 Win, the 6BR is on my short list when it needs a rebarrel.

Have done too many 284's and Wildcats of same...though all of course rifle based.

Smaller cases tune better, are FAR more consistent and often boast superior brass quality, which all sweeten the pot.

Quite a few buddies have built 6BR's after shooting mine and I find myself contemplating yet another.

Easily the greatest Sleeper Cartridge of All Time, for longer distances(PPC's take the cake up close)...............

I prefer the mid grip for shooting from the creedmoor, but I still shoot contenders and encores. That 284 is a right handful with the brake removed, part of the reason I'm looking at the 6BR. Just picked up a 250 Savage XP that someone customized. I put 50 rounds through it to get my drops for a IHMSA match this weekend and there isn't a trace of copper in the barrel.

What is the twist du jour for heavies in the 6BR? I'd probably use PacNor for the convenience, so groove count would also come into play. Any advice would be appreciated on details. I'm not afraid to turn necks, but I'd much rather be shooting.

In an XP I'd go 1-7",given gross velocity.

Fuck turning necks.

I'd shout at Chris and cite a 3-grove solution...mainly because I've a shit load of stellar spouts from him.

Hint...................

What do you want/need for it? I prolly have a few thousand 120's on hand, that would squirt through it easily enough............

This thread reminds me of an XP100 in the closet I had forgotten about. What would you guys put on a rear grip .223, or maybe .300 Whisper ?

I did not word my question right. I meant to ask about optics, based, rings, and scope ? It came with the rear grip stock, which for some reason I have it in my head was supplied by McMillan.

Tough one...as a GOOD Pistole Scope,doesn't exist.

I'd go 1913 rail,to maximize latitude for getting eye-relief right......................

Unfortunately there hasn’t been many if any improvements in telescopic handgun glass in quite some time.

Leupold offers slightly better glass than Burris but Burris gets you higher magnification.

If yours is a factory XP100R any Rem model Seven mount will fit. It should have 3 mount holes drilled so a single piece base is in order.
