There's this dude named Shaen...I hear good things about him and his work...

I'm sure several will be along shortly, who he's already done work for.

Short action or long action? Most were L/A's. Prospective chamberings?

You wanna be REAL careful with reamer specs and especially throat geometry,as you don't have alotta COAL to play with. Bullets matter more than anything else and if you are painted in a corner and gotta shoot Wadcutters...it's gonna suck.(grin)

Shaen LOVES to recontour spouts!.......................

A High RPM 224 Speedmire don't suck. No forming,88's have a .545BC,shoots soft, ain't loud and you'll have lotsa COAL to spare.

Tough to make a 243 hang with one.................(grin)

On a Ruger,I'd not want anything that wasn't Kreedmire based,whether .224",.243" or .264".

The 264 version would lose .075" or so of it's SAAMI throat to boot.

I've never had a throat that was too short, but running outta COAL sucks ass.............

Stick is right on the money, cartridge case wise.

Another vote For Shaen to do the plumbing, he's done 2 for me and I've been more than pleased.

The 260 is a longer case, though only has Kreedmire capacity. In this Day & Age,that's a bitter pill to swallow, unless you are into Wadcutters.

Same as always, the best bullet wins and if/when given a choice,I'll happily take it,with the shorter case...to align all dots and connect same.

Same reason you don't have a 1-7" Swift.....................(grin)

1000 Words.

Left to right: 6.5 Kreedmire,260 and 260 AI...with a .264" 147 ELD on each side.

Keep in mind, that the Kreedmire is essentially a 264-250 AI,so it dupes 260 case capacity................

'Nother thousand words.

Same exact premise, but in a downsized bore diameter, with 22-250,22 Kreedmire,22-250 AI form load utilizing Virgin Alpha 22 Kreedmire brass, formed 22-250AI and lastly a Swift. The 224 Speedmire is 95%+ of a 22-250AI,in Virgin over the counter guise. .224" 88 ELD to far right.

The 224 Speedmire is easily THE pick of the .224" litter illustrated. Both it and the 22-250AI wear Swift case capacity,in a VASTLY superior wrapper.

Does as you please, but I'd give throat geometry a thunk,as I'm not a Wadcutter Guy and there is NO reason not to slick up the Kreedmire's mechanical advantages and run with same.................

'Nother thousand words.

The "average" S/A Tanger will eat a 2.865" COAL,which ain't horrid.

I know which one I want,if only because I shoot 'em all..................(grin)

'Nother 1000 words.

Virgin Alpha 264 Kreedmire on bottom seated with a 147 ELD SAAMI throat Smooch, with a 260 Virgin directly above it.

That 3" magbox prolly comes in handy.(grin)

The better you savvy what you got to work with, the better job you can do connecting dots and you won't be The Wadcutter Guy,until you WANT to...............(grin)

I've got more Seex Kreedmires,than I do either 224 or 264 versions.

Gimme a second and I'll go line some shit up.....................

1000 words.

Left to right...224 Speedmire 88 ELD Smooch,Seex Kreedmire 105 Hornie HPBT SAAMI throat Smooch,Seex Kreedmire 108 ELD SAAMI throat Smooch and the aforementioned 264 Kreedmire Barrett 147 ELD SAAMI throat Smooch.

Note both Seex's wearing Virgin 264 Kreedmire Alpha false shoulders, for finite initial headspace control.

In the Seex,I prefer the mundane 105 HPBT,because it's great in everything.................

'Nother 1000 words.

At the aforemntioned Tanger S/A COAL latitude of 2.865"...there is ZERO fucking concerns with the 224 and 243 Kreedmire's,with most boolits.

Top to bottom 108 ELD,105 HPBT and 88 ELD...............

'Nother 1000 words.

When talking like COAL constraints,as brass stays the same length and bullets get longer....you sure as fuck will wanna give reducing throat length a thunk,to preclude being painted in a corner.

Left to right:224,243 and 264 Kreedmire's,with 88,108 and 147 ELD Smooches respectively.

It really fucks with heads, that the 88's BC is better than the 108's and when losing 20grs of mass in the same case, speed prolly increases to boot. The 224 Speedmire is just simply fucking stupid good, while having all mechanical advantages and giving largely a fuck less about throat geometry. I've got one at .090" and told The Kali Kid to build me one at .100".

'Tis VERY forgiving, the softest shooting and Supersonic to the 1550yd line in Today's atmosphere,on a low tide.

Hint................(grin)

Thank you! looks like i'd be a fool to go 6.5.. 6 it is!
Given a thunk,it's no thang to Spec a KILLER 264 Kreedmire and The Kali Kid can more than handle it. The better you can pinpoint the parcel's application(s),the better you can help yourself in it's particulars.

Lose some SAAMI throat, retain the ability to gun Factory Fodder and you can do it all...if/when armed with info. Roll at it blind and you get what you get, which might not could be what you want.

SAAMI throat geometry shoulda been no greater than .120" in said chambering...............

I don't Valk' and wouldn't...as the 224 and 243 Grendel's are THE way to go. Have several of each and LOVE 'em.

88 ELD Smooches in AR mag confines,is a Mind Fuck.................

The Valk' might very well could be a decent route for some folks,as it is Factory loaded. While it is a shame that the 22 and 6 Grendel aren't,it's tough for folks who don't load,to shoot shit that ain't on the shelf and ready to go over the counter.

The 22 and 6 Grendels are both EXCEPTIONAL and simply nastly little bastards...........................

Late to post this but Shaen did a great job on the 6 creed. I can't figure out picture posting anymore. Damn rifle spent more time in the mail than anything. He even beat my brass order. Super pleased and the rifle shoots well with hornady brass and 105 Amax's i had laying around. though it would have done better if i hadn't hastily set up the seating die. Still held under .75" with a polevault to the throat... I got the 105 HPBT's and Alpha brass so i'll be back at the range this week to get everything set up and ready for bears.
