Need a new home PC for pictures and some video shit. I don't know as much as a single fucking thing about them, other than I don't need to Arc Weld with the fucking thing and I don't want a piece of shit.

Thoughts on the Dell 8000 XPS in particular?

Obliged............

Get a 21.5" iMac and kick yourself for not getting one sooner.

The photo, publishing and design world use macs. Not a techy expert by an means but photography pros all seem to be running macs.

I know Mac/Photography are often mentioned in the same breath and I certainly couldn't take issue with that. My concern is,what is gonna do me best, with the least amount of fucking bullshit and with minimal wait times?

As an aside,I doubt I'd even hook it to the 'net...............

I'd vote PC, but a guy has to stay on top of the trend every month to keep up with the technology available.
Dell is a good bet, as well as gateway, but I'd go to the Newegg computer site and buy based on reviews...
I've built the last 5 I've purchased, minus my latest, which I simply didn't have time to deal with.

There's lots of jargon a guy can get wrapped up in, but the simple Walmart special for 5-7 fat ones will get you rolling without a hitch.

If you decide to purchase through Newegg, which is a great place, look for a desktop that comes pretty clean from add-on programs that are preembeded into the system. Reading the reviews will help with this. Bottom line, you don't want a bunch of aftermarket crap that you'll never use and will slow the computer down from the getgo and later on down the line.

Definitely stay away from the laptop scenario, as that is rip-off pretty much anyway you want to cut it, regardless of the operating system.

I dont know shit about computers but I have both and prefer Mac's. Like my friend said "you do what you think would work and it works". If I took a little more time to figure out photos and such I dont think it would be hard. There are a lot less bullshit problems with macs.

On my MacBookPro I have two operating systems I have Mac and I also run Microsoft. I never use the Microsoft, but I used it for school till they got caught up with the times. Now its all Mac but I still have Microsoft.

If it will be a desk top for photo and pictures dont fuck around and go straight to the 27 inch. I was eyeballing a 27 inch Mac and the images are sharp ass hell. There shouldn't be any wait for them either.

I keep hearing all the oooohhhs and ahhhhs of Macs on pictures, yet I've never ran into a single person yet who can tell me what the difference is or advantage is in using a Mac and photoshop or a PC and photoshop.
All the graphic gurus like using a mac, but all the programs they're using are available for PCs too.

I use my PC system everyday on Cadd Cam, excell, photos, internet, and the biggest hog on the planet....QuickBooks, and I've yet to have a single problem.
The desktops I've built are still running after 7 years and our main bookkeeping computer has been going steady without a hitch for 6.
Not sure how you top that.

Lots of Ram and Hard Drive, with plenty of speed on the CPU makes the average homebody damn happy with anything they're going to slap on there.

Program availability is no small issue either and that's where a Mac simply falls wayyyyyyy short.
