Does anybody have any experience with the performance of Accubonds? I know that in the early days, some folks called them "Accubombs," stating that they didn't hold together. Lately I don't hear many negative comments about them, but thought I would ask here.

I ask because I got a good deal on a bunch is several different calibers. I loaded some 140 grainers for my 7 WSM (63gr of IMR 4350) and the first two groups at 200 yards were both under 1.5" (which is about as good as I can shoot).

Following Stick's rules of (1) Placement, (2) Construction, (3) Headstamp; it's coming down to #2 for this load.

Thank you!

Shot a box of 130gn accubonds through the 260, they were as accurate as anything else I've shot, but they are as hard as hell!!! Little to no expansion, shot a crow that flew 30yds, done a loop the loop and dropped dead!??! Had all 5 foxes I shot with them do a mad death run between 10 and 50yds Gave up trying to stop heart beats with them after both the roe deer I shot with accubonds dident seem to react to the shot, ran off, stopped, then lay down and died after bleeding out. They had almost the same size entry and exit, first one had a clean hole through her lungs, the other had nicked the heart as well. Would have been as well shooting FMJ's!!!

I've shot a number of yotes & whitey's with my Swede and 130AB's.....my experience was the opposite. They are great, accurate, little to no death dash and deer in the freezer. I can't say I have recovered one either. I don't think AB's are necessary for whitey's though, so now I send 129 Interlocks and keep more change in my pocket. Same/same result on deer.

That 129 Hornady is a great bullet. I wouldn't think twice about chasing elk and busting shoulders with it.

I have used the 139 gr Hornady to take a blacktail buck with my 7mm-08. The bullet entered just behind the front left shoulder, cut his heart in half, and then came apart as it pretty much shattered the offside shoulder. The buck went 30-40yds and piled up.

I also used Hornady's in my 35 Whelen to kill a cow elk. Shot her three times and she didn't go more than 25 feet. All of the bullets came apart, fragmenting badly. None exited. But, she was deader than dead in quick fashion.

So, I don't have any serious gripes with Hornady's. I'm just considering giving the Accubonds a try since I got a decent deal on some. I'd like to hear other people's results who have killed something with them.

Wade,

The only thing bigger than coyotes I've killed with an accubond was a dink bear. It was a broadside at maybe 10 yards with a 140 accubond out of a 270 weatherby doing 3250. The bear probably only weighted a max of 250, most likely 200lbs. He just did the dead bear slinky roll down the hill he was on. The shot was behind the shoulder and of course went right through. If I remember right the off side ribs where all bloodshot but what do expect right. The shoulders and hams where fine.

I've only killed three bull elk, three deer, and a couple of black bears with accubonds. 200's in the 300 RUM and 160's in the 7mag. So far I cant complain about the results, dead critters. I'm loading accubonds in five diffrent chamberings now, molyed in the .257WBY.

Thanks Jamie!

Well, I'm not hearing anything negative about AB's, so I guess I'll give them a try in the fall.

I've tipped two moose and more than a few deer with them, and have had no issues. I've never found one, or parts of one. All had decent sized exit holes.
