I got hooked up with this guy who used to guide hunts in Wyoming and he promised he'd help me get the biggest deer I've ever shot. He also said something about bees, but I was a little drunk at the time (and during the hunt) so I can't recall exactly what he was talking about.
Anyway, this guy, I think his last name was Whisperer, gets me on a horse (looked more like a donkey to me) and we ride a few miles down a road to a ranch that the guy claims he has permission to hunt. Not more than five minutes from the ranchhouse and he tells me to get ready for a shot on a "trophy". He points me out in a pasture and there, definitely, is something that looks like it might hit 1000 lbs. Problem is that I ain't never seen a black and white deer before, but Mr. Whisperer says that this is a once in a lifetime chance to take down a trophy so I take the shot.
Miss. By about 50 yards. Good thing these deer don't move very fast because I was able to reload half a dozen times before I finally hit the damn thing. 80 yard shots are a lot tougher on trophy sized animals.
Here's my record-breaker. Thanks to Mr. Whisperer for the finest guided hunt ever.
