Question about Talleys

I've got a set of Talleys on my 7wsm Montana that is giving me fits. Twice now, they've worked loose. I've just took the whole set-up apart and used enough lock tight to turn the whole damn action blue.
These are my first Talleys and I'm curious if this is normally an issue, or if it's a case of an idiot operator...grin

I'd go with option two myself....(grin)
I've not shaken any loose on anything (including my reasonably light 300Ultra), much less my 7wsm 'Tucky....
Whats shaking loose? Base from action? Or top cap from bottom? I'm guessing from the "action blue" comment, base from action.....Correct screw sizing?

Unfortunately, I think you're right. The first time, all of the screws were a little loose after about 6 shots.
I decided to make sure I had enough blue in there to turn Jeff O's stomach.
We'll see how things work going forward. If I had to guess, I'd say I spent too much time BS'ing and not paying attention to what the hell I was doing.

There's no way you should've been able to rattle loose all 4 with six pokes.

I usually twist until the torx wrench they supply starts to look like a spiral... very convenient that they supply a torque wrench with every set.
Never thought of using glue...

Ditto with the ones I've cranked on, although in doing that, I did strip the tits out of the head on one....
I did blue up the ones on my Ultra though, for luck.

I bought a used rifle/scope a while back, and it appeared that the previous owner spent nearly as much on loctite as he did on the scope.
His favorite color was red though.

Loose is the only thing I could figure. There was no wind, but I kept getting horizontal stringing. I can't think of anything else but loose rings that would cause that.

Nope, figured I'd see how it shot first. That will be my next chore if the rings weren't the problem.

I blue Loc-tite everything, when it comes to rings/bases, right after I decrease with acetone. The "RED" Loc-tite comes with use, and I welcome it as well.........grin

All is well. I shot it the other day and it cloverleafed the first 3 at 100 and then I just had to keep shooting and opened the group up to about 1".
Somehow must have not had everything as tight as I thought I did the first time!
No big deal now, the rifle left this morning on it's way to Montana. I fly out on Saturday to use said rifle to let the air out of a Mulie...hopefully something bigger than a dink...grin

I'll put a drop of blue loc-rite on the rings and bases, it doesn't hurt anything.
Then again, I don't move shit around too much. I set it and shoot it.
