Had one built years ago and have never really sat down to gin-up any loads. Pre-64 Model 70 action and Douglas barrel at 21". Any constructive suggestions for recipes to launch 250 and 270 grain projectiles?

I will leave that to you "Glam Boyz". I'm just a poor serf that has to get by on a little less. I'm pretty certain I can make 2750 with the 270 without much sweat. Considering what I have witnessed lately, that should do me fine. Hell, I still thing a 270 Winchester can kill something!

The 375H&H AI will clean up the existing chamber, less setback or another extractor cut. The ability to whistle Six-bits Factory fodder ain't a concession and brass/dies abound.
Could see going the shortened version in a shorter magbox mandate or in an auto like the BAR as a lark.
There's too much MOJO inherent the AI for me to turn my back on same, mainly because I've been around so many of them and they simply sing beautifully. We all toted 'em in The Day.
Tough for me to throw logistics out the window, sacrifice performance and pay extry to do same......................

I understand the concept. If I were to start anew I would go the AI route.

I'd liken it akin to building a 22Short over a 22LR upon a platform that'll easily handle the LR by design. You could of course whistle 375/338's through the 375H&H AI if it cheered you up.(grin)
For the $100 to punch it,how do a guy lose?!!?...............

I used to do the 416 Taylor gig (LA Winchester), and still have it, but will probably send it off an see if it can be redone in .375 something.
Can't be that expensive.
BTW, great job on the bear with Bro Bill...

Yeah, from what I can gather, the factory 300 H&H and .375 H&H each had a little work done to the actions and mag to accommodate in the pre-64 action. As for Bill's bear, I was just there for immoral support! He done good.

70.o gr RL-15 yielded 2,675 fps in my post-64 M70. This chrono'ed velo was with Kodiaks.
I've run 69.3 with the TSXs but don't have a velo.
