What do you guys think of the North River Seahawks? I've never been on one on the water, but I checked out ShaneO's 21ft when he had it. Seemed pretty well thought-out. The 20' pictured here, has a 14/29 deadrise as opposed to the 21's 18/42, which could be a significant difference. There's lots of NR Offshores running around our parts but I've never really paid much attention to these canvas-top jobs.

I bought my 22-ft Hewescraft, brand new, in 2003. I sold it after six seasons for more than what I paid for it, but still a couple grand less than market value at the time.
The price of aluminum has driven up the price of new boats to the point of being ridiculous. I remember going to a boat show in the fall of 2001, and brand new 26-ft Alumaweld hardtop was about $45K. Now, it's hard to find any new 26-footer under $80K.

That does look to be a lot of boat for the money. I'm not too keen on fiberglass, but they do often show up as good deals on the used market.

If the cruise/fuel numbers they list are anything close to accurate, that could be a pretty slick ride.

Spent a few days on an Albin while in Sitka. Was sure nice to get back from a long day in the alpine to the smell of stew, fresh bread, and a lid over our head.

I'd upgrade to the best double axle trailer possible for launching off of the worst ramps on the island, see how big of a fuel tank I could have put in it, and go max 4 stroke HP.

We are talking 1987 or so but I believe she was a diesel. Belonged to Jon, think you have met him as he stays with Bother Bill and KT on occasion. I think a guy could do worse. Hooked the Whaler to the back for running.

You could do a whole of a lot of hunting/fishing out of that boat. I'd upgrade to the best double axle trailer possible for launching off of the worst ramps on the island, see how big of a fuel tank I could have put in it, and go max 4 stroke HP. I've a line on a good 20' to replace whiskey river. Our boat is nearly perfect for everything, except that it has a pretty modest V, being as it was designed for doing double-duty (rivers as well as lakes or ocean). So, she's got a pretty weak deadrise spec, though I don't know what it is and the manufacturer hasn't ever given me a direct answer. I'm happy to grab the 20', with the above deadrise specs, but I'm a bit cautious and wondering if the 21' with significant deadrise would be better. Just hate to drop the coin and time to scoop up the 20' only to discover the improvement in ride isn't what I hoped for. My gut tells me it'll be a big improvement over what we have but I would hate to regret not getting the 21'. Of course, the 21' are much more scarce on used market, and much more expensive.

Albins have a good reputation and I'd personally rather go diesel on a rig like that, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker if it were gas.
Both have their pluses and minuses I guess.

It would be nice though if they made a 20' aluminum boat you could run WFO and then look out the side window and say,"I didn't know we were in a 5' chop?!!?".(grin)
I'd prolly have to have one too!.....................
