I believe they are storing extra muzzle tape there.

If you're talking CDS, I believe you can get MOA dials as well/instead.

Im thinking it keeps Zero and shooting short yardage? Wonder how easy they spin? Wouldn't a guy just keep extra tape for barrel on barrel?

Those are target turrets (NOT M-1's) and the tape is on the dust cover, it's just spare for the muzzle.

the tape is on the Target turrets cover and is only there as a handy place to put extry tape...

CDS is another hump-up. You're humped up to the tune of 1 spin of the turret or 15MOA once it's zero'd.

I thought you could have the stop taken out. Regardless, 15 MOA is about a 700 yarder with 7-08/162's. I could live with it, seeing as I only have 505 to shoot at.

top is target bottom is M1.

The CDS only has the Zero stop if you have the BDC dial. the MOA one doesn't have it.

The CDS does not have revolutions twisted marks...you go past zero you better remember how many revolutions you made or you cant get back to zero...

Leupold will stick a zero stop in an moa CDS knob if you tell 'em to. Had one done up for a rifle to fit a scabbard as the M1 will hang up like it's glued.

M1's have no peer and everything else is a series of concessions to it,CDS being the biggest Goat Fuck of all. If one of my turrets has tape,it is an elder vintage style Target Turret(before they'd M1 1" tubes) and is simply a storage means for extry muzzle tape. I use out of a pack first, the turret last...so I've always got extry.

If you aren't dealing in MOA,you are pissing up a rope....................
