I have Lapua brass and Barnes TTSX 80 grain BT's. I'll be running those through what I have. Winchester 70 pre-64 featherweight barrel 21 inches 1 in 10 twist. Considering trying RL-17. Looking for what others may have for experience with those Barnes bullets in a .243 Win.

I'm using 46gr IMR 4350 with the Barnes 80gr TTSX. 3400fps out of 23" tube. That is a max load.

Barnes gives a RL17 starting load of 41.5 and a max of 45.5 with the same load.

Accuracy is fine. Saturday I was doing a little banging for fun and shot a .277" group with said bullet.

I could never make RL17 do better than RL22 with moly'd 85 TSXs. My 300 WSM likes it though.

In a couple of different 22" SAMMI 243s, 43 grains got them to 3200 but was leaving a bit of an extractor mark. 44 grains and 3250 was making the bolt sticky.

50 grains of RL22 did 3315 and was a good ways safe.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be expanding my stockpile of powder to work up what needs to be done. Just for the hell of it I've some 7828 to see what it'll do pushing a bunch of 95 gr partitions I've had making puppies for years.

Never seen any love for it here,but my vanilla .243 nets 3400 fps with 46 gr. of RL19 under an 85 gr. TSX 1-9 Lilja @ 23".

Tried RL17 in several calibers with less than impressive results. My 243AI being the exception,I am 3200ish fps with 105 moly A MAX.
