What kind of call are you guys fond of up in SE Alaska for "honking" at the Blacktails?

Most folks' favorite calls are top secret and made by local injuns.

I have had decent luck with Lohman's #9, and pretty good luck with the ELK, Inc. cow talk and elk talk calls. Some folks like the Kmeer Deer a lot but I never had much use for it.

When it's on, anything will work. When it's not...nothing will. (seems like)

Oops, I meant Lohman #30 - the bleat call.

Try the Elk inc. Deer talk also. You adjust the rubberbands to change pitch. The deer talk works better for me on quiet days with thick brush. It sounds a little deeper and you can stiil get good sound at low volumes. But like Dave suggests I carry the Cow Talk also and you can really make it squeal at high volumes which is great for long distances and windy days. Be aware, that these calls can make your deer run away if they're not in the mood.
