Got this one in for a client and will get to play with it a bit before sending on its way. Supposed to be running 300 grainers @ 3100.

From what I gather much of his velocity gains come from his patented throat design, he has some info on it on his site. Sounds like they where pushing the 300's to 3200+ but best accuracy was around 3100 give or take.

Having lips in such close proximity to the explosion on a Boomer,is more than a touch disconcerting,as is the Loudener.

NO thanks..................

She's paid enough attention,to nod her head...if she ever wishes to be correct.

Bless her heart...............

It's square, but on tilt...might could be some primer splash, keeping it from setting square on the casehead................

picture problem not the case, and yes the primer was out a bit on that case as well which I am sure added to the problem.

Shot and carried the Brit HK bullpup in 556 Nato quite a bit. Always made me a bit nervous, but it was a nice piece of equipment.

been standing at the bench all day and only have 200 rounds of the big guy to show for it. 200 more to go and will ship it off. At $6 a pop for initial loads just for components I would say he has a bit invested in ammo for this thing. That is not even including my time to load them. He will have $2500 wrapped up in 400 rounds by the time I am done with them, of course at $4.50 a pop for brass you are way too deep before you even get started. would like to test it out a bit but time does not avail.

Indian rifle still in corner and aint skinned a thing. Maybe tomorrow project.

Will have to order a few 285's for my ultra and see what the fuss is about.

Pappy, we are running 300 grain Skinners at 3000 fps with a Lapua Improved 1 degree body taper and a 40 degree shoulder.

I understand Shawn does some Weatherby type wizardry to the throat in order to deal with the increased pressure? I've seen chrony numbers at 3200fps with 300's on the Terminator case.
What is the COAL with the 300 SMK's? I am curious as to how the 110ish grains of N570 fits in there?

Thanks!

When we get to work, remember me to order some 285's too.

Tough to set a 7mm aside long enough,to grab a .338" of any sort.................

I did not want to shoot that third shot for nothing, somehow it all went where it was supposed to. could not repeat it again if i tried. I am tickled how it shot.

3.643 on OAL which seems short on a single shot. I think a guy could gain a bit with a longer throat in it. I seen no gains in velocity after 101 grains and that is where I stayed which was a full load anyhow. 3K was stretching it with 570. I think with 33 a guy could get where he wanted with speed which is around 3070 or so.
Will be fun to stretch it out this coming fall and watch a few elk fall to it. Boomers are fun once in a while but pass me my 260AI and I am happy.

That does seem short. We are right around 3.825" or so...and mag fed. Our loads top out same as yours, 100 to 101grains, and right on 3000 fps, give or take a bit. Haven't tried any 33, as I can't my hands on any.

Thanks for the info! And that group is some damn fine shooting!
