I thought I saw a post on this but can't find it. Dealing with the Montuckys (a 223 and 243). My stock is bedded at the action screws and lug, but the barrel is free floated back to the lug.

What is the general consensus on these, tip pressure or FF? The RTV silicon also has me thinking.

How is the tip pressure established and bedded either with JB Weld, 5 min epoxy, or accuglas gel?

Laffin, No interested in selling. Just trying to get the most accuracy. Hell, I still need to put my SS 6 Fixedphucker on it.

OK, I have DD bases on it but need 30mm rings. Mediums right? Already stress free bedded the action/lug, barrel is free floated.

Going to Moly up some 87 VMAX. What is a good powder/charge to work with these? Guessing 45 grains of 17 with RP brass and a 200. I am going to have to shoot 20-30 rds to get some moly laid in the tube. See how it shoots as already set-up.

45.5grs of '17,with Lapooey hulls,a smooch and 200's,is a 90gr Skinner constant in a Montucky.

Mediums.

I've never seen it take 20rds to lay down the Slickum.............

I ordered some leupy 30mm rings yesterday. It seems to be liking the 45.0 and 45.5 gr load of RL-17. However the spent cases seem to be hitting the rear DD base on my rifle and sometimes the empty rd won't eject and stays on the follower.

Anyone else have this issue?

Was thinking of grinding off the part of the base where I did the pencil mark. Has anyone done this for a fix?

The centers off the base screw holes are pretty small on the rear bridge. I don't know if there is room for a smaller base?

BT/DT on 700's turned Whizzum...before one could score a donor. Never had an issue on a Montucky in any boltface or chambering, even when suffering a 1pc 1913 rail.

I'd certainly not be afeared to make me an outboard taper,to make things warm and fuzzy.................

OK, I got the 6x FF on board, loopy rings, and some Lever, RL-17, 87VMAX, Sierra 85hpbt's, and some 95 NosletBT's. This is prolly gonna be a WT Deer rifle. That's about as big as it gets here. Most shots under 300 also. But I want freaking accuracy.

Bedded the action, check SAS's list of shit to do. Start at the freaking start.

I believe I am ready to be pointed and directed.

Actually going to go out and shoot it a little this morning. Got a couple of inches of snow and want to get outside.

Of the 3 choices proposed,I'd 87'Max...but would much prefer a 90 Skinner kiss.

Group size and shape?.................
