my buddies farm backs up to a pretty big river system. The farm hands from Sri Lanka said there was a stag early that morning. So we hid in the trees towards dark. Holy smokes we didn’t expect this! I shot the last stag so mates turn.

Got a tip that kahawai are in on the high tide.

a couple people had a few hours in that morning with no luck, so they weren’t exactly thrilled when the yank and 4 kids caught one in less then 10 minutes

Surfings been a bit hit or miss. Swell dropped overnight. Momma can still rip on the shortboard

i’ll be through VA on the way to the outer banks and back in may. I’m not huge into turkey hunting or fishing but the kids might be.

Kids are kinda pissing me off tho lately. They are all about fishing but none of them will eat it. They’ll only eat sashimi grade pelagic type fish. Spoiled rotten

This could cause some heart palapatations. Leupy on top, 270 Winchester sako, and a carbon wrapped muffler. Don’t give a shit about gear. Buy memories not things. Fun to get into the hills with the groms.. this trips been fun to share it with them. Red deer tenderloins are top of the heap in terms of feed. Second only to antelope and fallow. Bit of Tuscany sprinkles on them medallions. butter in the pan and I’m feasting like a king.

The annual salmon derby was this weekend. Headed out on the jet boat. Swell was up so we lost a fair bit of fish in the surf bringing them in.. kept the last 4 for a feed. I really suck at taking pictures. It was way too much fun catching to run back to boat to grab the phone.

Niece is a gem. Middle of 11 kids. Hauled out a quarter from a pretty rough hell hole with a smile. I got over 50 nieces and nephews so 1 on 1 time is cherished for me. She’s got 2 weeks left with us. Then it’s back to work for her.

Heading off grid the next 3 weeks. Have big cooler full of frozen processed venison. Goal is to fish and surf every day. It’s been a month now.. as a few of you guys know, was handed a good deck of cards by the Lord and jumped off the work train 10 years ago at age 28. Threads like this can get a guy in trouble.. anyways if we get good fishing or hunting action above and beyond normal will update with pics. Anyone keen to come hunt or fish New Zealand pm me. Heading into the kawekas mid March to try and get a decent Sika deer.

The closest I've ever come to something like that is in an aquarium. For one that's 8 lbs on the hoof...how much meat is there?

Not as much as you would think based on live weight but enough to get full !
We had 9 crabs
Four of us eat all we could.
We picked the rest this morning and put them in the freezer.
