Picked up a chemical etch machine on eBay and it works!

Deep and light etch.

Will be a lot easier to mark a barrel than with letter stamps.

Dude tell me more about that setup..... I need a way to do suppressor tubes and lowers for NFA markings. Think it would work well?

I got this one used for 3-1/4 bennys. You print the stencils on a dot matrix printer, the ones that print on multi forms. 9 or 24 pins. There is a utube vid from Midway USA showing that dude Potterfield etching a barrel using the same setup. I just used the stencils that came with the rig from the previous owner and tried it on a barrel I fucked up many years ago.

I'm pretty sure Ron Popeil is involved in this somehow...

This roll of material is the stencil

Cut off a piece and put it in a typewriter.

Taped the blue part to the metal

hooked the ground to the barrel and soaked the wick in the solution.

Rolled the wick over the stencil about 6 passes.

Deep etch

turned to the other side and did a light etch

Not that complicated, just have to make sure the stencil doesn't move.

Couldn't get a mark on anodized aluminum, got a mark on bare aluminum.

Cant measure the depth, would venture a guess its only a couple thousand of an inch.
