Turned it down to a Douglas #6 light target. Going to thread it for a 700 action, should be easy to find a donor. .243? .243 AI?

So Ive never contoured a barrel yet, is that a piece of lead you have strapped on to get rid of vibration?

A brass gib out of a big radial drill I scrapped. Yes I strap that on to reduce chatter. Slow speed and feed, light cuts, careful no to over heat the barrel. Way easier to just buy them contoured but I didn't know any better at the time. LOL

I've got about a half dozen benchmarks in my gunroom and installed another half dozen for friends. Nice fucking barrels, lapped to a mirror finish. Every one so far has been a shooter.

Should I just 270 it and be done? A lot of .378 boldface doners on GB

Intellesting,as this has sorta came around full circle.

My Heavy 270 is a Benchmark 1-7.75" MTU contour at 19.5" and I cain't say enough good thangs about it. Have been shooting THE shit out of it,this whole pass and can't see anyone not falling in love.



It won't piss you off to bask in 223 logistics,while flingin' 105's at meaningful velocities,with less than 25 fucking grains of powder. It is perhaps THE Ultimate Mind Fuck.

Being able to see trace/impact,never gets old and that real time feedback,just simply flat puts shit in a BAD way.

The 105 Hornie HPBT digs fucking incredibly...............
